Eli Lopez

13u – Guard

I would like to congratulate August 2015 Player of the Month, Eli Lopez. He is one of All Net’s favorite players. “TOUGH” is the best word that describes Eli. Over the past 3 years, he has been the most dependable, hardworking, and the ultimate team captain. The best memory that I have about Eli was when he was playing with the Sharks, one of the first times we had met him. We were at San Carlos, and Eli was practicing and got hit in the mouth so hard, that his tooth fell out. The coaches were caught off guard and didn’t know if we should stop play or go and check on him. Eli picked up his tooth, ran over to his father, said “hold this”, and ran back on the court and continued playing as if nothing had happened. That was one of the first times that I had realized that Eli had a rare toughness about himself.

Eli knows what he is good at, and knows what he is not. One of his best traits, is he is always trying to improve his weaknesses. Eli attends every practice, has been to every skill session, is the hardest worker at every practice, guards the best player in every game, and has continued to develop his great leadership skills. Eli is one of the most respected players in our program, which is why I believe Eli is going to have a successful High School career at Mission Bay High School, starting in 2017.

Congrats Eli, your Player of the Month recognition is long over due. I am very proud of how far you have come, and excited to see how much further you will go.

All Net Player of the Month

July 2015

Rayshawn Holscher

14u – Point Guard

Rayshawn Holscher is a 14-year old incoming Freshman that will be attending Mater Dei High School in the fall. He has been selected as the All Net July Player of the month due to his leadership, work ethic, commitment to basketball, and most importantly, excellence in the classroom.

Rayshawn is a Point Guard on the 14u All Net team. He is the leader of the team, he is always the first player to practice, and the last to leave. When the coaches give him advice or feedback, he not only listens, but he immediately implements the coaching. The14u team started off slow, but has improved tremendously over the past few months; Rayshawn’s vocal leadership style is a major reason that the team has improved and is playing so well together. Even when Ray is sitting on the bench, he can be heard as the loudest cheerleader on the team, always encouraging his teamamtes. He has attended every practice, and almost every skill session, and ALWAYS looking for ways to get better! He is a spunge for learning.

A great example of Rayshawn’s work ethic and commitment to excellence was the decision he and his family made in regards to his summer schedule. He is playing football and wasn’t sure how he was going to be able to continue playing with All Net. After sitting down with his family, and addressing pros and cons about committing to two sports over the summer, Rayshawn commited to not only those two, but also enrolled in summer school as well. Ray’s busy schedule begins with school in the morning, football in the afternoon, and basketball in the evening! His commitment hasn’t wavered one bit, in fact, his coaches have seen more improvement, more confidence, and more leadership out of him in the past two months than during the entire first season with All Net.

I am very grateful to have such good hearted, hard working kids that are a part of All Net Basketball. Rayshawn is no different, he is definitely a role model to the younger kids, and I look forward to watching his successful high school career at Mater Dei!

Congrats Rayshawn, we are very proud of you!

All Net Basketball Academy is very excited to be able to honor its first Player of the Month Award to Caleb Hicks. Caleb was recently on the 11u/5th grade All Net team during the Spring 2015 season. He came in to the program thinking that he was only going to play in the rec league. But the coaches quickly noticed his natural athletic ability. He began practicing with the club players, and at every practice he seemed to improve more and more each time. It is very evident that Caleb truly enjoys the game, he has one of the best looking jump shots in the program, and is one of the most coachable kids I’ve met. He’s always eager to learn something new, and does everything with a big smile on his face, and most recently received the teams   “Most Improved Player” of the season award. The following is a Q & A Session that we conducted with Caleb about some of his interests on, and off, the court! Congratulations Caleb!

Q1: What do you like most about being a kid?

Answer: I like being a kid because I don’t have a job or have to worry about paying any bills.

Q2: You did really well in your first season of basketball. Is that your favorite sport? Why?

Answer: Yes, basketball is definitely my favorite sport because I feel like it’s more natural to me than any other sport.

Q3: Who has helped you learn the game of basketball so fast?

Answer: Definitely my dad, my brother, and my coaches; Coach Brett, Coach Kalvin, and Coach Joe.

Q4: Do you have a favorite basketball player? Why is he your favorite?

Answer: Yes, I really like Kobe Bryant. He is a really hard worker. Even though LeBron is the best player now, Kobe use to be way better when he was younger.

Answer: My favorite memory of this season was when we played in the Memorial Day Tournament, and we made a major comeback. It was very exciting.

Q6: What is your favorite subject in school? Why?

Answer: Math is my favorite subject. I am pretty good at it, it just makes sense.

Q7: What do you want to do when you grow up?

Answer: I want to play basketball or be an engineer

Q8: If you could go on vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?

Answer: ummm… that’s a tough one, I would probably say China. But I am not really sure why.

Q9: Do you have a hidden talent, or something that not many people know about you?

Answer: My hidden talent is that I like running, I am really good at it!

Q10: Ok, before we finish, is there anything else that you would like everyone to know about you?

Answer: No, not really. Thank you! (Smile)
